SYNOPSIS
Intimate and fragmented moments unfold in a community of zoos and animal rescue centres across Argentina. As histories of these institutions are uncovered, dedicated workers commit both day and night to caring for the remaining enclosed animals, fostering a mutual bond that transcends imagined boundaries between human and animal.

PRESS QUOTES
“A patient and expansive work, organically weaving commentary on labor with rich observations about the dynamics between animals and carers. In her films, there’s an “anti-language,” which translates to a more embodied cinema, giving attention to texture and how different beings interact with their environment.”
Cici Peng & Nicolas Pedrero-Setzer – Variety
“An unclassifiable, breathtakingly beautiful work that challenges us to reconsider our place in the world... transcends the boundaries between human and animal, capturing the infinite tenderness of relationships rooted in the pure immediacy of existence”
Muriel Del Don – Cineuropa
“Collective Monologue evocatively flips the act of looking and the role of care back on the humans.”
Pat Mullen – Point of View Magazine
“Collective Monologue lingers on a more intimate and unassuming look into the tangled web of contradictions that make up the relationship between humanity and the world it inhabits.”
Joshua Peinado – In Review Online
“With a form that is intricate and precise, while pleasingly fragmented and open in construction, Rinland’s hypnotic approach invites questions about how we not only look at animals, but also share the world with them.”
Andréa Picard – TIFF
